NDIS Capacity Building

Your NDIS Capacity Building budget is used to help build the life skills you need to reach your NDIS goals and live a more fulfilling, independent, and inclusive life. Funding from this category can only be spent within the eight subcategories of Capacity Building and Support Coordination services. You choose how your funds will be spent within your Capacity Building budget, but funding cannot be moved to pay for other Core or Capital Supports.
Support Coordination is included as part of the NDIS Capacity Building budget to help enhance your ability to assess your disability-related needs, develop a plan, manage your budget, and fully achieve your plan goals. All Capacity Building supports focus on helping you make the best decisions, participate fully in your community, and live the most independent life possible.
The approved subcategories of your NDIS Capacity Building Supports include Improved Living Arrangements, Improved Social and Community Participation, Finding and Keeping a Job, Improved Relationships, Improved Health and Wellbeing, Improved Learning, Improved Life Choices, and Improved Daily Living.
Support Coordination
Your support coordinator is a person specifically designated to help set up the initial service agreements with providers and the ongoing management of your support services. They help you manage the service providers you hire through your NDIS plan. The purpose of a support coordinator is to ensure you receive the best combination of support and services to build, maintain, and improve your capacity to live the most independent, self-determined, and inclusive life possible.
A support coordinator helps choose supports and service providers to implement your NDIS plan and meet your goals, arrange necessary assessments, work with your plan manager to arrange funding for services, connect you with mainstream and community-based services, manage provider service agreements, and assist with plan reviews and renewals.
Improved Living Arrangements
Improved Living Arrangement services are designed to help guide and assist you in finding and maintaining safe and appropriate housing that is comfortable and improves your quality of life. This may be a new home or a supported independent living arrangement.Services may include searching for appropriate housing, applying for a rental property, understanding and negotiating rental agreements, meeting tenancy requirements, ensuring the living area meets your needs, coordinating shared living accommodations, or locating supported independent living residences.
Increased Social & Community Participation
Increased Social and Community Participation provides vital funding for services that provide training to develop and improve your personal skills so you can increase your participation in social, recreational, and local community activities.
This category focuses on building your social network, improving your quality of life, and supporting you in living a more independent and inclusive life.
Improved Relationships
The Improved Relationships support category is for individuals with complex behavioural needs. Funding provides for vital behavioural assessments, training, and services to help develop positive and appropriate behaviours and improve interactions with others.
Improved Health & Wellbeing
Improved Health and Wellbeing is a broad category to support your physical fitness goals and assist in living a healthier lifestyle. Physical fitness and good eating habits lead to better health. Managing the impact of your disability, feeling better, and knowing you are responsible for the improvement helps increase self-reliance, build self-confidence, and encourages a more independent living style.
Services may include physical fitness training, diet and nutrition advice, cooking classes, and other services to teach you how to take better care of yourself.
Improved Life Choices
The Improved Life Choices budget provides professional Plan Management assistance to help you manage your NDIS plan. The goal of this support is to relieve you and your family from the endless planning, administrative tasks, and paperwork burden of managing your NDIS plan and make the best choice possible to increase your independence and improve your quality of life.
Services include finding appropriate providers, negotiating and completing service contracts, paying providers for services rendered, managing your budget, providing required documentation and monthly reports, and preparing for NDIS plan reviews and renewals.
Improved Daily Living
The Improved Daily Living services and support funding helps build, maintain, and improve your general life skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, financial budgeting, time management
This area includes necessary assessment, training, support services, or therapy to help increase your daily life skills, personal independence, and community participation.
