Transportation
General Transport
Working parents may find it difficult to transport their child to and from school or recreational activities due to their working hours. Parents can engage a provider to assist in transporting their child to different venues as per their needs. While engaging a provider the parents can communicate procedures and schedules for the provider to follow.
When providing transport to children, it's crucial to prioritise safety and follow established procedures or schedules. Aprovider will obtain parental authorisation, ensuring adequate supervision, conduct a risk assessment, and adhere to legal requirements regarding seatbeltsand safety restraints.
Children are considered to be under the care of a provider at the point the service is taken to assume responsibility for their care and well-being. Providers are taken to assume responsibility under the National Law for the safety, health and well-being of all children at alltimes that children are in the care of the provider.
Transporting children provides opportunities for strengthening connections between support worker, families and the wider community. Children’s learning and enjoyment can be enhanced by travel routines that allow for quality interactions between children and support workers. These journeys also provide opportunities to build on children’s understandings ofhow to keep safe in and around vehicles.
